We regularly tune in to hear what our members have to say. This is important: Philips Pensioenfonds is weighing one interest against another all the time, and making choices that impact your pension. It is therefore our responsibility, we feel, to obtain your input on matters that affect your pension and the pension fund. We do this not only by informing you, but also by asking for your opinion and seeking out a dialogue with you.

Read on to find out the results of a survey that we carried out last autumn, and to learn more about the issues on which we want your input in the new year. I would also like to ask you to help us again, and answer six quick questions.

that there will be changes to the new Collective Labor Agreement (CLA) that also relate to your pension?

your variable salary component that you receive in March is no longer pensionable?

instead, your variable salary component will be based on a higher base income?

the amount that you contribute towards your pension accrual will remain the same, at 2% of your pension base?

•

from now on the wage elements that count towards your pension accrual are mentioned in the CLA and no longer in the pension regulations?

Indexation decision: you will recieve information in March 2020

The ambition of the Board of Trustees of Philips Pensioenfonds is to raise the accrued pensions every year to reflect wage increases. This indexation, as it is called when we raise your pension, is important to make sure that your pension retains its purchasing power. For the pension fund to index its pensions, the policy funding ratio - which reflects the pension fund’s financial position - must be higher than 110%. At the end of 2019, the policy funding ratio was 114.2%.

This quarter, the Board of Trustees will examine the pension fund’s indexation policy and decide whether or not your pension can be raised in 2020. If the pensions are indexed, the increase will be added to your pension effective 1 April. We will contact you in March with further details.

The National Pension Agreement: how it will affect you

You have probably heard or read about it in the media: the National Pension Agreement has been a frequent topic of discussion in recent months. Nor is it likely to go away any time soon, as many of its details still need to be decided at the national level. Members have asked us what role Philips Pensioenfonds plays in this national discussion, and what the pension fund thinks of the proposals. Policy funding ratio: 114.2% Quarterly Q4 figures of 2019

The policy funding ratio at 31 December 2019 was 114.2%

•

The return from 1 October to 31 December 2019 was -0.4%

•

The pension fund assets at 31 December 2019 were € 21,302 million

Latest developments

During Q4, the actual funding ratio rose from 110.9% at the end of September 2019 to 117.0% at the end of December 2019. This substantial improvement in the funding ratio was caused by a higher actuarial interest rate and strong returns on the stock markets.
